Columbus- Jennifer Garrison (D-Marietta) was sworn in as State Representative in the Statehouse Chambers today. She takes her place among the ninety-nine representative House of Representatives. Rep. Garrison replaces Nancy Hollister.

Rep. Garrison plans to direct her focus to the needs of the 93rd District and Ohio. Revamping Ohio’s education funding system is the first step toward improving Ohio’s tough economic situation. She feels it is essential scrap the current school funding system.

“We must find a way to adequately fund our schools. Eliminating the back breaking property taxes is priority number one – they simply aren’t the answer. The Ohio General Assembly must supply teachers and school administrators with the tools they need to equip the next generation for the challenges they will face for the rest of their lives,” said Rep. Garrison.

Many challenges face the 126th General Assembly. The biggest challenge will be balancing the budget which will likely be worse than in previous years. The 125th General Assembly passed the largest tax increase in Ohio history which was strongly supported by Republicans.

“Fiscal discipline is imperative to good government. Just like any family or business, Ohio must get the most out of its resources. Fixing education will allow us to attain this goal,” stated Rep. Garrison. “Properly funding education will give us the foundation to produce a strong economy, healthy families, and a future for all Ohioans.”

The 93rd House District includes all of Guernsey, Monroe, Noble, and parts of Muskingum and Washington Counties. To reach Rep. Garrison feel free to contact her in Columbus at (614) 644-8728 or in the district at (740) 373-2414.
