Columbus- Jennifer Garrison (D-Marietta) has been assigned to three committees for the 126th General Assembly. Garrison, the freshman legislator from Marietta has been appointed by Democratic Leader Chris Redfern to serve on the Agriculture and Natural Resources, Education, and the Public Utilities and Energy Committees.

Committee assignments mark the beginning of legislative business in Columbus. Many bills have begun the process of being drafted and in order for them to reach a vote committee assignments are a necessity.

“I am excited about my opportunity to go to work for the people of the 93rd House District. I campaigned on making education a priority in Ohio. This assignment will put me in a position to work towards a better education system for our children and the future generations of Ohioans,” said Garrison.

The Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and Public Utilities and Energy Committee were also committees requested by Rep. Garrison. She cited the vast natural resources of the Appalachian Region and our agricultural history as a reason for her desire to be part of the committee.

Garrison also said, “;It is very important for me to be on the Public Utilities Committee, because Allegheny Power will not enter into a rate stabilization plan voluntarily. Without a plan, rates could skyrocket by as much as 71%- which would be disastrous.”

The 93rd House District includes all of Guernsey, Monroe, Noble, and parts of Muskingum and Washington Counties. To reach Rep. Garrison feel free to contact her in Columbus at (614) 644-8728 or in the district at (740) 373-2414.
